Polk’s High Jump Performance Highlights Buckeye Tune-Up

Zachary Polk posts the best mark in the BIG EAST this season
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sophomore Zachary Polk, competing in the high jump for the first time since high school, posted a mark of 1.95 meters to place second on Friday night at the Buckeye Tune-Up. His mark currently is now the highest jump in the BIG EAST this season.
"Our men's sprint side ran really well tonight," said head coach Ryan Orner. "This served as a perfect tune up before the BIG EAST Championships. Russell Platt in particular showed he's ready to win next week.
"Zachary Polk was also impressive in the high jump, having not done the event since high school."
Platt took third overall in the 60-meter dash, posting a time of 6.96. Polk recorded a time of 7.06 in the prelims, while Sean Farnan had a time of 7.14.
"On the women's side Kara Robinson had another PR performance and showed she's ready to podium next week at the conference championships," added Orner.
Robinson posted a time of 9.03 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles.
Xavier returns to action at the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 26-27 in Staten Island, N.Y.
