Musketeers End Regular Season with Road Loss at Georgetown

Hoyas snap Xavier’s four-game win streak in the series
WASHINGTON - Xavier women's basketball dropped its regular-season finale at Georgetown on Sunday afternoon, falling 63-51 at McDonough Arena.
Xavier concludes regular-season action with a 17-12 (8-10 BIG EAST) record, while Georgetown moved to 16-12 (9-9 BIG EAST). The loss snapped the Musketeers four-game win streak in the series as Xavier moved to 6-3 all-time vs. the Hoyas.
Xavier will be either the No. 7 or No. 8 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament on March 5-8 at McGrath-Phillips Arena in Chicago. Visit goxavier.com this evening after the conclusion of all the BIG EAST games today for complete tournament seeding.
Aliyah Zantt led the Musketeers with 12 points, while Briana Glover added 10. Maddison Blackwell finished with eight, including six in the first quarter.
Georgetown won the battle on the glass, 49-22, with Dorothy Adomako pulling down a game-high 14. She also added a game-high 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting.
Xavier led by as many as six, 18-12, on back-to-back free throws by Zantt with 7:39 left in the first half. Georgetown would close the half on a 19-7 run to take a 31-25 lead into intermission.
Zantt scored eight of her 10 first-half points in the second quarter to lead all scorers at the break. Xavier scored more than half its points from the foul line in the first half, going 13-for-21.
The Hoyas held an 18-15 advantage on the glass at intermission, led by Dominique Vitalis' six rebounds. Logan Battle led Georgetown at the half with eight points.
The Hoyas opened the second half on an 8-3 run to take a 39-28 lead and force a Xavier timeout. Georgetown led by nine or more points for the remainder of the contest and led by as many as 17, 63-46, with 2:23 left in regulation.
The Hoyas held a 34-16 advantage in points in the paint and out scored Xavier's bench, 19-9. Both teams scored nine points off of turnovers.
Dionna White added a double-double for the Hoyas, scoring 14 points with 11 rebounds. Battle added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Xavier finished the game going 22-for-35 from the foul line. Georgetown hit 41 percent of its shot attempts, while limiting Xavier to a .325 field-goal percentage.
