Women's Swimming Finishes Third at BIG EAST Championship

Paxtyn Drew posts second NCAA B-Cut time
LONG ISLAND, NY. – The Xavier women closed out the BIG EAST Championship with a number of new school records and a top-three finish after a number of strong performances on the final day of the competition.
Finals opened with the 1,650 free where Mackenna Rife posted a 17:09.10 to take the sixth spot on the podium. Taylor Jach's time of 17:13.78 put her just behind Rife in seventh.
Paxtyn Drew took third place in the 200 back with a time of 1:59.16 to take third place, as well as set a new Xavier school record and eclipse the NCAA's B-Cut standard for the event. Caroline Gaertner and Kristen Liebert also qualified for the Championship final, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.
In the 200 breast, Hanna Martin qualified for the Championship heat where she upped her fourth-best time in Xavier records to 2:22.14 for seventh place.
A pair of Musketeers qualified for the Championship final, where Maggie Kauffeld bested her personal record to 2:04.07, breaking her own school record. Jenna Wilkes posted a 2:07.25 in prelims to qualify for the Championship final where she placed eighth.
The women closed out the day with another school record, in the 400 free relay, where Drew, Gaertner, Claire Broslma and Molly Kroeger posted a 3:27.21 to take third.
