Shane Crutchfield Captures Individual Title at the BIG EAST Championship

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Shane Crutchfield shot par or under on 16 holes during the final round of the BIG EAST Championship to capture the individual title on Sunday afternoon. Crutchfield led a Musketeer team that finished third overall, with a team score of 950 (+86) after shooting a combined 320 (+32) in the final round. The Musketeers finished just three strokes back of second place Georgetown's score of 947. Seton Hall captured the team title with an overall score of 935.

Crutchfield entered the day in second place, with a score of 147 (+3) through two rounds. She overtook Georgetown Mackenzie Boydston's two-stroke lead after shooting even-par on eight of the first nine holes to enter the back nine in a tie for first. Crutchfield closed out strong, shooting even par until the 17^th hole where she birdied, to move into sole possession of first place.

Crutchfield finished round three with a three-over score of 75, to finish with an overall score of 222 (+6). St. John's Anna Kim shot a 76 (+4) on the final day to take second with a score of 225 (+9) and Boydston finished the day plus-nine to take third with an overall score of 226 (+10).

The individual title, the first tournament title in Crutchfield's Xavier career, also marks the first conference title for a women's golfer in program history.

Hanna Lee also picked up a top-10 finish in the conference championship, the second of her career. Lee enter the day tied for sixth place. Lee shot par or better on 10 holes in the third round, including picking up a pair of birdies on the back nine, to finish the day with an 80 (+8) for a final score of 235 (+19) for eighth place.

A pair of Musketeers finished tied for 20^th with an overall score of 248 (+32). Rachel Johnson shot a 78 (+6) on the final day, her best round of the tournament, to move up sixth spots. Johnson shot par on 10 holes, and picked up a birdie on the third to move into the tie with Mikayla Smith. Smith shot an 88 (+16) in the final round to finish out her first conference tournament appearance.

Lindsey Murray rounded out the Musketeers five, finishing the tournament in 27 after shooting an 87 (+15) in the final round to finish with a final score of 257 (+41).
