Musketeers enter final weekend series at home against Villanova on Thursday
OXFORD, Ohio – Xavier wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday night at Miami (OH), falling 7-2 at Hayden Park.
With the loss, XU drops to 24-28 overall. The Musketeers have still won 10 of their last 12 and sit 11-4 in the BIG EAST – currently in a first-place tie with Creighton with three conference games remaining.
Miami (OH) improved to 25-26, snapping a two-game losing streak and clinching the season series with a second win against XU. The Musketeers took the first meeting at Hayden Field back on March 16 in a 12-4 game.

· Xavier collected five hits on the day, putting runners on base in six separate innings – but leaving eight on base.
· Four Musketeers were hit by pitches in the game, representing a season-high. Senior Andre Jernigan was plunked for the 12th time this season, setting a new career-high and moving into third-place all-time in XU history with 34 HBP in his career.
· Rylan Bannon (1-for-5), Dan Rizzie (1-for-3), Chris Givin (1-for-3, R), Will LaRue (1-for-4, R) and Roger Danison (1-for-4, 2 RBI) all had hits for the Musketeers.
· Danison gave himself a hit for the third time in his past three games with a two-run single in the fourth. The freshman is now hitting .400 (4-for-10) over his last three starts.
· Rizzie has now reached base in 14 straight games.
· LaRue stole his team-leading 26th base.

· Damien Richard got the start, but lasted just 2.2 innings as the RedHawks drew three walks and got to him for five earned runs.
· Taylor Williams entered in relief to escape the third, getting one out and pitching the fourth. The freshman finished his night after 1.1 innings, striking out two and allowing one unearned run.
· Brad Kirschner entered next and gave up one unearned in the fifth.
· Trey Schramm posted a scoreless sixth, working around two hits and striking out one. He now has a personal 17 inning scoreless streak, which has dropped his ERA from 4.88 to 3.27.
· Junior lefty Greg Jacknewitz finished out the game with two spotless innings, allowing a hit and a walk as well as striking out two.

FOURTH INNING:Â Chris Givin connected for a one out double down the left field line, advancing to third on a base hit by Will LaRue to left. After LaRue stole second, Roger Danison smacked a single to right center to score both Givin and LaRue.
