Musketeers to play six matches, including annual Devin's Game and friendly against FC Cincinnati
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer announced its complete spring exhibition schedule on Tuesday, featuring four home matches at XU Soccer Complex. The spring slate is highlighted by a friendly against FC Cincinnati in addition to the annual Devin's Game, which benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati.
Xavier will play six matches total, including road tilts against collegiate powerhouses IU and Louisville. The four home dates will feature matches against FC Cincinnati, Wright State, Canadian side Vaughn Azzuri and Bradley.
"Once again, I like the challenges, opportunities and balance to our schedule," said head coach Andy Fleming. "As much as we've tried to hit it out of the park with some big names, we also have a few games in which we will be expected to win, which is a challenge we struggled with last fall. Playing the likes of Indiana and Louisville is always great as we look to re-establish ourselves as a Top-20 team, while the FC Cincinnati match is a wonderful night for the city. The same goes for Devin's Game, which is truly a special and unique event. Fans will see a together team with grit and a renewed commitment to the defensive side to the ball."
Xavier finished the 2016 season 8-8-3 (4-4-1 BIG EAST), falling in the BIG EAST quarterfinals as a fifth seed.
