Musketeers Fall in Overtime Against Georgetown on Friday Night

Hoyas Top Xavier, 69-64, at Cintas Center
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's basketball dropped it fourth straight game on Friday night, falling to Georgetown, 69-64, in overtime at Cintas Center. The Musketeers moved to 10-9 (2-6 BIG EAST), while Georgetown improved to 11-7 (3-5 BIG EAST).
Xavier has now lost two straight home games in overtime. The Musketeers were defeated by Butler, 65-62, on Jan. 8.
• Georgetown won the battle on the glass, 46-41. The Hoyas were able to turn 23 offensive rebounds into 31 second-chance points.
• The game featured eight ties and seven lead changes. Neither team led by more than eight points on the night.
• Imani Partlow made her first career start as the sophomore forward finished with 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds. She was 7-for-11 from the floor.
• Raeshaun Gaffney scored a game-high 21 points, including 17 points in the second half. She added three assists and two rebounds. The senior guard has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back games.
• Kindell Fincher finished with 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting. The sophomore guard also matched her career-high with seven rebounds.
• Marquia Turner added six points, six assists, four steals and five rebounds. She has posted six or more assists in a game five times this season.
• The first quarter featured four lead changes and one tie with neither team leading by more than one possession. Imani Partlow was 4-for-4 from the floor, leading the Musketeers with nine points in the first quarter. Xavier led the Hoyas, 10-8, after one quarter of action.
• Xavier opened the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 16-8 advantage at the 7:57 mark. The Musketeers hit 66.7 percent (8-for-12) of their shot attempts in the frame, taking a 28-21 lead into the locker room.
• Imani Partlow led Xavier with 13 points at the break on 6-for-7 shooting. Georgetown held a 23-22 advantage on the glass. Kindell Fincher led Xavier with five rebounds, while chipping in five points.
• The Musketeers led by six, 34-28, at the 5:47 mark before the Hoyas closed the quarter on a 15-6 run on 5-for-9 shooting. Georgetown outscored Xavier, 22-10, in the frame to take a 43-38 lead at the end of the quarter.
• Xavier shook off the cold shooting by outscoring Georgetown, 19-14, in the fourth quarter behind a .467 field-goal percentage. Xavier led 57-55 with 23 seconds on the clock before the Hoyas tied the game down the stretch on a pair of Dorothy Adomako free throws.
• Raeshaun Gaffney scored nine points on 4-for-8 shooting, including Xavier's final five points of the quarter.
• Georgetown buried its first four shots from the field to open the quarter on an 8-3 run. Xavier got within three, 67-64, on a Raeshaun Gaffney jumper with 38 seconds left on the clock before the Hoyas sealed the win with a pair of free throws down the stretch.
• Xavier returns to action on Sunday, Jan. 22 against Villanova. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. from Cintas Center.
