Baseball Crushes Visiting Great Lake Canadians in Lone Fall Exhibition, 19-1

CINCINNATI – Xavier baseball pounded out 22 hits and scored 19 runs in its lone fall exhibition, defeating the visiting Great Lake Canadians by a score of 19-1 on Sunday at Hayden Field.
• Trevor Olson got the start for XU and threw an inning, allowing just an unearned run after two errors by the Musketeers. The freshman did not allow a hit in his only frame.
• Nick Zwack came on in relief, pitching the second and third and striking out five batters. The freshman struck out the side in the second.
• Evan Miller, another freshman, came on to pitch two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
• Joe Gellenbeck made a mound appearance for the first time in a Xavier uniform, tossing a scoreless seventh with a pair of strikeouts.
• Trey Schramm finished off the game, working around a single to record three strikeouts in the ninth.
• After the first inning, XU pitching allowed just two players to get past first base.
• All five Xavier pitchers recorded multiple strikeouts.
• Roger Danison went 4-for-6 with a double and an RBI to lead XU in hits.
• Ryan Fournier (3-for-6, HR, 3 RBI, SB) and Blaine Griffiths (3-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R) both had three-hit days at the plate.
• Ryan Altenberger (2-for-5, 2 R, 2 SB), Conor Grammes (2-for-4, 3 R, 2 SB), Joe Gellenbeck (2-for-4, 2 R, RBI), Matt Warkentin (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R), Nate Soria (2-for-3, HR, 2B, 2 RBI) and Sam Flamini (2-for-6, 2B, RBI) all had two-hit games for the Musketeers.
• Allbry Major (1-for-1, BB, RBI) and Garret Howicz (1-for-1, 3 RBI) also had hits in the game.
• XU got three homers, including bombs by Matt Warkentin, Ryan Fournier and Nate Soria.
• Warkentin's homer came in the bottom of the fifth against his former team and was a two-run shot.
• Four XU hitters had multiple RBI and nine different batters had at least one RBI.
• 11 of 12 XU hitters had at least one hit and nine batters put up multiple hits.
• 10 XU players scored a run and seven crossed the plate multiple times.
