Women's Cross Country Takes 14th at NCAA Great Lakes Regional
11.10.17 | Cross Country
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Xavier women's cross country wrapped up action at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 10. The meet was held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Musketeers placed 14th out of 31 teams. The women's 6K race had 223 runners.
Senior Madeline Britton will find out on Sunday if she gained an at-large berth to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.
Jenna Clayworth also ended her season with the fifth-highest finish for a freshman at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
12th - Madeline Britton (20:53)
63rd - Jenna Clayworth (21:43)
76th - Allison Sinning (22:04)
108th - Jennifer Prial (22:40)
129th - Anna Kostarellis (22:56)
133rd - Brooke Hines (23:02)
147th - Jane Onders (23:20)
"As far as the team scores go, I thought this was just an average performance for us. We did move up several places from last year, but I thought we should have been in the top-12 today. We looked really good through our third runner but then fell off a bit from there. I'm sure this was a great learning experience for all of our freshman and something we can build off of for next year."
"Individually, Maddie Britton had an amazing day. She was with the lead pack at 3K, she responded really well when the pace picked up at 4K and she ran really strong over the last 1k's. The race was so close that the 10th through 12th spots came down to six tenths of a second. Regardless if she makes NCAA finals or not, this was her best ever in cross country or track. To finish 12 individually in one of the toughest regions in the country is something Maddie should be really proud of."
