Kasier Gates scores a career-high 19 points to lead the Musketeers
CINCINNATI – No. 21/20 Xavier improved to 6-1 on the season after strong efforts from J.P. Macura and Kaiser Gates to defeat No. 16 Baylor in front of a 10,503 person crowd at Cintas Center.

FIRST HALF |
- Xavier jumped out to an 18-6 lead at the 14-minute mark with J.P. Macura contributing 10 of the Musketeer's first 18 points.
- Macura led the Musketeers with 17 points and four rebounds while shooting 7-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from behind the arc.
- Kaiser Gates finished the half with nine points and went 3-for-5 from the field and 3-for-5 from behind the arc.
- Xavier led by as much as 13 at the 12:30 mark, but Baylor closed the gap to pull within one at the four-minute mark to make it, 30-29. Back-to-back jumpers by Bluiett and Macura extended Xavier's lead to 32-29 and a three-pointer at the buzzer by Macura gave Xavier a 39-34 lead at the half.
- The Musketeers out-rebounded the Bears, 19-14, and shot 55 percent from the field, compared to Baylor's 42.2 percent.

- At the 15:41 mark, the Musketeers started a 10-0 run to make it 55-43, regaining their double-figure lead with just over 12 minutes remaining. Naji Marshall contributed six of the Musketeers's 10 points during the run.
- Baylor pulled within five points at the seven-minute mark to make the score 61-56, but Xavier outscored the Bears 15-7 down the stretch to pull away and win 76-63. Xavier went 8-for-8 from the foul line in the closing minutes.
- Kaiser Gates led the Musketeers in the second half with 10 points.

- Kaiser Gates finished the night with a career-high 19 points. He went 6-for-10 from the field and 5-for-9 from behind the arc.
- Four Musketeers finished in double figures, with Gates scoring 19 points, Macura scoring 19 points, Naji Marshall scoring 10 points and Bluiett scoring 10 points.
- Quentin Goodin led the Musketeers with nine assists and added six points.
- Xavier out-rebounded Baylor, 38-28, and Tyrique Jones led the team with seven rebounds.
- Both teams shot under 50 percent from the field, but Xavier shot 44.6 percent in comparison to Baylor's 42.9 percent.
