Musketeers End Non-Conference Action With a 70-52 Win Over Florida A&M

Xavier hit a season-high 13 three pointers on Friday afternoon
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball ended non-conference action with a 70-52 win over Florida A&M on Friday afternoon.

The Musketeers moved to 7-4 on the year, while Florida A&M dropped to 2-10.

• FAMU took an early 3-0 lead before the Musketeers outscored the Rattlers, 20-6, for the remainder of the first quarter to take a 20-9 advantage. Xavier led by as many as 17 (30-13) with 5:53 left in the first half before taking a 36-20 advantage into the locker room.

• Ashley Gomez knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half to lead the Musketeers. A'riana Gray and Deja Ross both had four rebounds as the Musketeers held a 20-15 advantage on the glass.

• Xavier opened the second half by scoring five unanswered points to take its first 20-point advantage of the game. The Musketeers led by as many as 23 points four times in the second half before pulling away for the 18-point win. Â

• Anniina Äijänen and Na'Teshia Owens paced the Musketeers with 10 points each. Äijänen added a team-high six rebounds, while Owens had a game-high four steals.
