The Bulldogs topped the Musketeers, 11-6, at Foley Field

ATHENS, Ga. - Xavier baseball dropped an 11-6 contest at Georgia in game two of the series with the Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The Musketeers (6-7) and Bulldogs (6-7) were tied at six heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before Georgia scored five runs on two hits and one error to pull ahead of the Musketeers.

Xavier and Georgia split the two-game series as the Musketeers defeated the Bulldogs, 8-7, in game one.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Rylan Bannon was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. He also added two stolen bases, increasing his season total to four (4-for-4). The junior now has six multi-hit games on the year to pace the Musketeers.
• Mitch Gallagher (2-for-5, R), Blaine Griffiths (2-for-3, R) and Nate Soria (2-for-5) all had multi-hit games.
• Freshman Nate Monastra had a season-high three hits (3-for-5), while adding two RBI and run.
• Xavier had one more hit (15-14) than the Bulldogs and left four more runners on base (11-7). Georgia also committed two more errors (3-1) on the night.
• Joe Gellenbeck and Nate Soria have both reached base in all 13 games this season for XU.
• Xavier collected a season-high 15 hits, the Musketeers' sixth game of the year with 10 or more hits.
• The Musketeers matched its season-high in stolen bases with five. Xavier has recorded multiple stolen bases in a game seven times this year.

XU ON THE MOUND

• LHP Trent Astle posted three strikeouts with one walk in 5.1 innings of work. He allowed nine hits and four runs.
• RHP Conor Grammes threw 1.2 innings of relief, allowing three hits and two runs. The freshman recorded one strikeout.
• LHP Sully Stadler (0-2) was tagged with the loss. He failed to retire a batter in the eighth inning, allowing two runs (one earned) and one hit.
• Taylor Williams and Jason Hall combined to throw two strikeouts and allow one run in the final inning of play.

HOW XU SCORED

FIFTH INNING: Nate Monastra hit a two-out, two RBI double to right field to score the first two runs of the game by either squad.
SIXTH INNING: Will LaRue hit an RBI single to left field for the first run of the inning. Mitch Gallagher crossed home plate later in in the inning on a fielder's choice.
SEVENTH INNING: Sam Flamini hit an RBI double to centerfield to score Nate Monastra.
EIGHTH INNING: Rylan Bannon hit a two-out, solo shot to left field - his fourth home run of the year.
