Gina Genco Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

The junior ranks 33rd in the NCAA East Region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase

NEW YORK - Junior Gina Genco was named the BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational last weekend. The two-day meet was hosted by Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.

The Carmel, Ind., native set a personal-best time of 10:37.97 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase despite a fall during the race. Her time ranks first in the BIG EAST this season while ranking 33rd in the NCAA East Region. Genco placed 12th in the race out of 57 runners.

Xavier travels to the Pacesetter Sports Invitational hosted by Indiana State on April 21-22.
