Samson Sergi Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Redshirt sophomore earns honor for second straight week
NEW YORK – Redshirt sophomore was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for a second straight week after scoring the equalizer in XU's 1-1 tie against No. 15 Kentucky last Wednesday.
Sergi's goal came in the 28th minute of a 1-1 draw at No. 15 Kentucky and helped XU to its second straight result against a United Soccer Coaches top-15 opponent.
The Ashburn, Va. native finished off a header from a long volley by Simen Hestnes, scoring for the second straight match and getting his team-leading fifth tally of the season.
With the result, Xavier moved to 2-0-1 against United Soccer Coaches Top 25 opponents this season. XU also extended its unbeaten streak to seven with the result, its longest since 2014 before falling on Saturday at St. John's.
Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 30, hosting Providence at XU Soccer Complex. First touch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
