Garrett Wood Finishes Tied for 11th as Men's Golf Wraps Up Bearcat Invitational

CINCINNATI – Freshman Garrett Wood continued his strong play as Xavier men's golf wrapped up the Bearcat Invitational on Tuesday, shooting even par to cap the tournament in a tie for 11th.

The freshman from Mason, Ohio clinched his first top-20 finish in his first competition as a Musketeer, finishing 5-under (208) for the 72 hole tournament.

Wood's second round 65 tied for the seventh lowest in XU program history. Only six Musketeer golfers have gone lower in tournament play.

Wood tied for sixth in the field and led Xavier with 13 birdies, shooting 3-under on par 4's to rank tied for fourth at the event.

Another freshman, Robbie Keyes, paced the Musketeers with 37 par holes in the tournament and finished 46th overall (+5).

Martin and Daniel Jaramillo tied for 55th overall, shooting 8-over. Daniel Jaramillo paced the Musketeers at 5-under on par-5's.

Imaad Qureshi (+13) and Fox Morrissey (+14) rounded out the team scoring for XU.

The Musketeers moved up on day two, finishing 11th overall in the field. XU carded a final day 290 and capped the tournament 14-over (866) as a team across three rounds.

Kentucky took the team title with a 32-under tournament.

NEXT UP

Xavier hits the road on Sunday, Oct. 8 for the Fighting Irish Classic in South Bend, Ind. The two-day event will take place at Warren Golf Course.
