Musketeers End Homestand With Loss to Georgetown

Imani Partlow had 12 points and nine rebounds in the 65-48 loss
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's basketball ended its four-game homestand with a 65-48 loss to Georgetown on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers moved to 9-13 (2-9 BIG EAST), while the Hoyas improved to 10-11 (5-6 BIG EAST).
• Georgetown led from start to finish and took a 33-17 advantage into the locker room. The Hoyas took advantage of a cold shooting performance from the Musketeers as Xavier was only 6-for-25 from the floor in the first half.
• Jada Byrd led Xavier with seven points on 3-for-3 shooting at the break. Imani Partlow added five points and a team-high seven rebounds. Georgetown held a 22-19 advantage on the glass.
• The Hoyas outscored Xavier, 25-13, in the third quarter to take a 58-30 lead into the final quarter. Xavier outscored Georgetown, 18-7, in the final stanza, but the Hoyas held on for the 65-48 victory.
• Imani Partlow nearly missed her fourth career double-double as the junior forward finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. She was 5-for-8 from the floor.
• Jada Byrd scored a team-high 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The senior guard added four assists and three rebounds.
• Na'Teshia Owens rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points. She also pulled down six rebounds.
• Xavier scored 18 points off of 10 Georgetown turnovers. Georgetown won the battle on the glass, 37-36.
• Xavier hits the road for back-to-back BIG EAST games at Seton Hall (Feb. 2) and St. John's (Feb. 4).
