Cory Brown, Samuel Buzzas Recognized in Postseason Top Drawer Soccer 100 Lists

Brown ranked in postseason top 100, Buzzas ranked in postseason top 100 freshman list
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer senior defender Cory Brown was ranked No. 76 in the postseason Top Drawer Soccer Top 100 list, marking the third straight year he has ranked among college soccer's top players. XU redshirt freshman defender Samuel Buzzas was also recognized, checking in at No. 82 on the postseason freshman TDS Top 100.
Brown, a native of Nelson, New Zealand, is the latest in a list of nationally-recognized defensive players for XU and will graduate as one of the most decorated Musketeers in program history.
Named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List ahead of the season, Brown capped one of the most best careers in XU history in 2017 with a third straight First Team All-BIG EAST selection and a spot on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team.
A native of Nelson, New Zealand, Brown started all 20 matches and led the team in minutes this fall, playing a part in six shutouts and adding a goal and three assists from the backline.
For his career, Brown played a part in 31 career shutouts and was an named all-conference player in all four of his years on campus. During the 2014 season, Brown was instrumental in XU's run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. He also helped XU reach two BIG EAST Championship matches in the last four years.
Buzzas was honored for the first time after redshirting the 2016 season. This past fall, the Bend, Ore. native was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team after making 17 starts at center back and scoring two goals, while playing a part in five shutouts.
