Men's Golf Posts Top Five Finish in Musketeer Classic

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's golf completed its fall season with a top-five finish at the Musketeer Classic on Tuesday. The Musketeers carded a 290 (+6) in the third and final round to move them into a tie for fourth place and finished with their best score of the season at 877 (+25).

The Musketeers were third in Par 3 scoring at 3.27 (+16), tied for second in Par 5 scoring at 4.53 (-21), and fourth in total birdies with 43 over the tournament.

Trey Rath recorded the first top five finish of his career individually after he carded a 215 (+2) in the tournament. Rath shot back-to-back rounds at even par, averaging 4.44 (-5) on par fives and recording 30 pars, 11 birdies, and one eagle over 54 holes.

Martin Jaramillo finished the tournament tied for 16th with a score of 72 (+1) in the third round and 220 (+7) over the tournament. Jaramillo recorded 30 pars, seven birdies, and two birdies over the 54-hole outing.

Michael Prebles carded a 2-under par third round at 69 and finished in a tie for 23rd overall with a score of 221 (+8). Prebles was tied for first in Par 5 scoring at 4.22 (-7) and among the leaders with 12 birdies through three rounds.

Garrett Wood finished the tournament tied for 44th and Nick Frey ended tied for 60th overall. Wood carded a 226 (+13) and Frey finished with a score of 230 (+17) for the tournament.

Hunter Roberts and Imaad Qureshi competed as individuals for Xavier in the Musketeer Classic. Roberts recorded two eagles on his way to a score of 226 (+13) for the tournament, he carded a 2-under par in round three. Qureshi finished the tournament with a score of 232 (+19).

Xavier finished the Musketeer Classic in a tie for fourth place after they carded a 290 (+6) in the third round and an 877 (+25) over the 54-hole tournament.

Ohio State won the tournament with a score of 851 (-1).

NEXT UP

There will be a break in the action until February when the Musketeers travel to Goodyear, Ariz. for the Loyola (MD) Intercollegiate.
