Tyrique Jones Earns BIG EAST Conference Honor

Jones is one of Xavier's three captains.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University junior forward Tyrique Jones earned a spot on the weekly BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll after averaging 18.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.5 steals per game in season-opening wins over IUPUI on Nov. 6 and Evansville on Nov. 10. Jones shot 69.6 percent (16-of-23) from the field for the two games.
Jones, one of Xavier's tri-captains this season, grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds in the Evansville win, while tying his career highs for points (19), blocks (4) and field goals made (8). This was the first 20-rebound game for a Musketeer since David West grabbed 21 in an overtime win vs. George Washington in the 2000-01 season (2-3-01).
Xavier, 2-0, hosts Wisconsin on Tuesday in a Gavitt Tipoff Games matchup.
