Men's Basketball Continues The Homestand On Saturday At Noon

CINCINNATI --- The Xavier Musketeers, 4-3, shoot to extend their winning streak to three games when they host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 3-4, on Saturday at noon at Cintas Center. The game is the second of a three-game homestand.
The Musketeers leads the series 3-0 with the Golden Grizzlies and all three of those meetings were played at Cintas Center. Xavier won the last meeting 93-68 in the 2007-08 season (11-28-07). Oakland plays in the Horizon League, formerly known as the MCC and the former home of Xavier for 16 years from 1980-95.
Xavier and Kroger are teaming up for a food drive at Saturday's game. Food donations will be accepted to benefit St. Vincent de Paul, including canned goods, bottled juice, peanut butter and other non-perishable food items. Visit the Xavier Musketeers Facebook page for more information.
Xavier will honor the latest induction class for the Xavier Athletic Hall of Fame at halftime of Saturday's game. The outstanding 2018-19 induction class, which will be formally inducted into the Hall at a Friday night dinner at Cintas Center, includes former conference champion swimmer Jamie Christman ('97), conference champion golfer Timothy Donovan, Jr. ('01), long-time administrator John Kucia ('69) as well as basketball standouts Reetta Piipari ('03) and Darnell Williams ('99), who earned long lists of individual accolades and led Xavier to multiple championship seasons in women's and men's basketball.

• Xavier is playing the second game of a three-game homestand, which equals XU's longest of the season. The Musketeers host Ohio on Wednesday.
• Xavier, 4-3, won its second straight game with an 82-55 win over Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday. XU tied a school record by committing only three turnovers.
• Xavier junior Quentin Goodin leads Xavier in scoring (13.8 ppg.) and in assists (sixth in the BIG EAST at 4.5 apg.). He had eight assists and zero turnovers vs. Miami.
• Xavier sophomore Naji Marshall is second on the team in scoring (13.0 ppg.), rebounding (7.3 rpg.) and assists (3.7 apg.). Marshall recorded career highs for scoring (24) and rebounding (13) in the Wisconsin game on Nov. 13.
• Xavier sophomore Paul Scruggs is third on the team in scoring at 12.0 ppg. to go with 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
• Xavier junior Tyrique Jones posted his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds vs. Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 28. Jones ranks second in the BIG EAST in rebounding (9.0 rpg.) and ninth in field goal percentage (.615).
• Xavier graduate transfer Zach Hankins is ranked fifth in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage (.744) and fourth in the BIG EAST in blocks (1.4 bpg.).
• Xavier has five players averaging in double figures in scoring through seven games, ranging from 10.6 ppg. to 13.8 ppg. XU has no double-figure scorers back from last year's team which earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
• Xavier won its first BIG EAST Conference Regular Season Championship last season. XU played in its fifth straight NCAA Tournament and its 12th in 13 years.
