Naji Marshall Earns BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors

This is the third straight week a Musketeer has been honored.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore forward Naji Marshall has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in XU's league-opening 74-65 win at DePaul on Saturday. This marks the third straight week that a Xavier player has been honored by the BIG EAST but XU's first Player of the Week selection this season. Junior Quentin Goodin earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll each of the previous two weeks.
Marshall recorded his third double-double of the season with a game-high 19 points to go with a game-high and career-high 14 rebounds and four assists vs. DePaul. His 3-pointer with 3:39 left put XU ahead for good at 63-61.
Marshall leads the team in rebounding at 8.1 rpg., which is tied for second in the BIG EAST. He is second on the team in scoring at 13.0 ppg. and in assists at 3.5 apg., which is tied for 10th in the BIG EAST.
The Musketeers, 9-5 overall and 1-0 in the BIG EAST, host Seton Hall on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Cintas Center. The Pirates, 10-3 overall and 1-0 in the BIG EAST, are coming off a last-second win over previously-unbeaten St. John's on Saturday.

In one other scheduling note, the BIG EAST and FOX have announced that the Jan. 6 game at Marquette will start at Noon ET. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX, including FOX 19 in Cincinnati.
