Quentin Goodin leads Xavier with 12 points as UC pulls away in the second half
CINCINNATI – Xavier's four-game winning streak ended on Saturday with 62-47 loss to Cincinnati in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout at Fifth Third Arena. Quentin Goodin and Paul Scruggs each hit double figures to lead the Musketeers, who trailed by as few as four early in the second half before Cincinnati pulled away.

FIRST HALF |
- Xavier opened up with a 2-0 lead on Tyrique Jones basket, trading one-point leads with the Bearcats over the next five minutes until consecutive buckets for UC put Xavier behind three, 9-6, with six minutes gone from the half.
- Cincinnati led by as many as four before seven-straight points, including a pair of threes, put the Musketeers back in the lead, 13-10.
- The Musketeers led by as many as four, 18-14, before six straight for Cincinnati put the Bearcats back ahead, 20-18, with under five minutes remaining in the half.
- Neither team held an advantage greater than four points until the 3:22 mark, when a UC three pushed the Xavier deficit to five. Another three pushed the UC advantage out to eight capping a 12-0 run.
- Zach Hankins used a dunk to end the Cincinnati run, a pair of Naji Marshall free throws extend the Xavier run to four, cutting the lead to four, 26-22, before a UC bucket set the halftime score at 28-22.
- Quentin Goodin led Xavier with six points in the first half, and Marshall added five for the Musketeers.
- Xavier shot 28 percent from the floor while UC shot 36.4 percent on field goals.
- Cincinnati held a 20-15 advantage on the boards, with Marshall's four rebounds leading Xavier in the first half.

- A steal and a Marshall basket to open the second half cut the lead back to four, 28-24.
- A 6-0 run for UC pushed the Xavier deficit to 10, 34-24, the first double-digit lead for either team in the game with 16 minutes remaining.
- Cincinnati built its lead out to as many as 20 in the second half, connecting on 8-of-11 free throws in the second half and shooting 12-of-26 from the floor to 1-of-3 from the free throw line and 11-of-26 from the floor for Xavier.
- A late 6-0 run for the Musketeers cut the lead back 13, 60-47, going into the final minute of the game, before a pair of UC free throw set the final margin at 62-47.
- Paul Scruggs led Xavier with seven points and Quentin Goodin added six points in the second half.
- Tyrique Jones grabbed five boards as Xavier was narrowly outrebounded, 16-15, after the break.

- Quentin Goodin finished with a team-high 12 points, connecting on 4-of-5 shots from inside the three point line. Goodin also dished out five assists.
- Paul Scruggs added 11 for the Musketeers after leading the team with seven in the second half.
- Xavier shot 18-of-51 from the floor, connecting on 20 percent of its threes. The Musketeers grabbed seven offensive boards for six second chance points, while UC, which finished shooting 24-59 from the floor, converted 12 offensive rebounds to 12 second chance points.
- Tyrique Jones and Naji Marshall each grabbed seven rebounds. Cincinnati finished with a 36-30 advantage on rebounds overall.
