
Women's Golf Caps Season with Third-Place Finish at BIG EAST Championships

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Women's golf earned a third-place finish in the 2018 BIG EAST Championship this weekend. The Musketeers had three individuals finish in the top-15 led by a seventh-place finish from Mikayla Smith.
Smith earned three birdies over the course of the tournament, two coming in the third round. The junior shot a successive 77's for each day, ending the tournament 15 strokes over par. She also led the field in pars, earning 37 over the course of the three days.
Mikayla Fitzpatrick finished the tournament tied for 12th. The sophomore finished the competition with the second-best par 5 average, going even on par 5's for the event. The sophomore was also among the tournament leaders with 32 pars.
Andie Shukow entered the clubhouse in a tie for 15. Shukow started the final round with a birdie on the second hole and the freshman tied for the team lead in birdies, earning four of Xavier's 15.
Morgan Tinsley secured a finish in 22nd spot at the tournament, tying Shukow for the team's most birdies at four. Tinsley finished the season with an 81, 80, 82 (243, +27) scorecard.

Xavier finished in third place, one spot better than last season's fourth-place finish, with team scores of 313, 309, 316 (938, +74). Georgetown led from the start and won the title, capturing its second consecutive BIG EAST title. Georgetown's three-day score was 903 (+39).
