Women's Golf Kicks Off 2018 Season at William & Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Xavier women's golf begins the 2018 season this weekend at the William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Resort. The two-day event kicks off on Sunday morning and wraps up on Monday.
Xavier will play in five fall tournaments this year and is looking to build on a third-place team finish at last year's BIG EAST Championships.
The Musketeers return their top four scoring average leaders including junior standout and All-BIG EAST golfer Mikayla Fitzpatrick, who led the squad with a 75.59 scoring average last season.
Senior Mikayla Smith also returns for XU after competing in all 10 events as a junior with a 76.90 scoring average. Smith lowered her average score last season by over two strokes and capped the year with a tie for seventh individually at the BIG EAST Championships.
Sophomore Andie Shukow and Morgan Tinsley are also back after finishing third and fourth on the team with scoring averages of 77.22 and 78.46, respectively.

The Musketeers will play 54 holes over two days at the event, including a 36-hole shotgun start on Sunday and an 18-hole shotgun start on Monday.
Start times will be at 8:30 a.m. on both days.

13 total teams are heading to this weekend's tournament, including Boston, Bucknell, Elon, James Madison, Longwood, Marshall, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Radford, Richmond, Stetson, Xavier, and William & Mary.
