Mikayla Fitzpatrick, Women's Golf Close Out William & Mary Invitational Tied for Fourth

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Xavier women's golf completed its first meet of the year, finishing tied for fourth as a team. Xavier finished with three in the top 11 individually, with Mikayla Fitzpatrick finishing tied for fourth, Mikayla Smith tied for ninth, and Kayla Benge tied for 11th.

As a team, the Musketeers carded a 308 (+20) in the third and final round.

Fitzpatrick completed her final round with a par, her second round at par for the meet; she improved by four strokes from her second round score. She comes out in a tie for fourth overall, ranking highly in multiple categories. Fitzpatrick was tied for second most pars in the invitational with 42 and tied for third in Par 5 scoring at 4.92 (-1).

Freshman Kayla Benge finished second for XU, carding a 78 (+6) for the final round. She also ranked highly in multiple categories, including a tie for sixth with eight birdies and a tie for third in Par 5 scoring at 4.82 (-1).

Ke'Asha Phillips and Morgan Tinsley ended the invitational in a tie for 27th at 17-over. Phillips was tied for second in Par 3 scoring at 2.92 (-1), she also jumped another eight places in the individual rankings from her second round finish.

Mikayla Smith, who competed as an individual for the Musketeers at the invitational, came away tied for ninth overall. Smith was tied for second in Par 3 scoring at 2.92 (-1) and fourth in total birdies with 10.

TEAM RESULTS

Xavier finishes their first invitational of the year in a tie for fourth with Boston University with a score of 906 (+42).

Marshall won the invitational with a score of 891 (+27).
