1N5 is a local non-profit that envisions a world without suicide. One in five teens suffer from a diagnosable mental illness, and suicide is the second leading cause of death in youth ages 10-24. Fifty percent of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin before the age of 14, and 75% by age 24. Sadly, it takes individuals eight years, on average, to receive a proper diagnosis and treatment. 1N5 works to increase mental health education and to reduce mental health stigma so that individuals receive the treatment that they need as early as possible and no longer have to suffer in silence.
