Swimming Picks Up Five Event Wins in Spring Opener at UC

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming traveled across town to Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon, for the first meet of the spring semester. The Musketeers combined to win five events, include two event wins each for Taylor Hogan and Emily Conners, and a first-place finish for Christian Thomas in the men's 50 free.

WOMEN'S NOTABLE

Xavier opened the meet with a second-place finish for Ali Fort, Lydia Schaeffer, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners in the 200 medley relay.
Tilly Baldwin led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 10:43.29.
Emily Saugstad led Xavier with a time of 1:55.96 in the 200 free.
Ali Fort placed second with a time of 59.54 in the 100 back.
Lydia Schaeffer set a time of 1:07.62 in the 100 breast to lead the Musketeers with a fourth place finish.
Taylor Hogan collected the first of three top-three finishes in the 200 fly, finishing third with a time of 2:05.65.
Emily Conners swept the sprint freestyle events, taking first in the 50 free with a time of 23.44, and first in the 100 free with a time of 52.28.
Hogan again led the Musketeers in the 200 back, collecting a first-place finish with a time of 2:06.32.
Schaeffer placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:27.06.
Katie Kerr's time of 5:12.49 in the 500 free led the Musketeers.
Hogan collected another win, this time in the 100 fly, with a time of 57.62.
Alison Herman placed third in the 200 IM to lead Xavier.
Xavier's women closed out the meet with Conners, Maureen Cummins, Saugstad and Tianna Vozar taking second in the 400 free relay.
Xavier's women fell by a score of 209.50-84.50.

MEN'S NOTABLE

Xavier's men opened the meet with a second place finish for Sam Johanns, Matthew Dyer, Brandon Abboud and Enrique Hernandez in the 200 medley relay.
Nick Mahoney led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 9:50.13.
Ben Quon finished third in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.87.
Johanns led Xavier in the 100 back with a time of 51.91 to take second, Alex Sironen touched just behind him in third with a time 52.19.
Dyer led Xavier in the 100 breast with a time of 59.14.
Abboud's time of 1:56.34 in the 200 fly led the Musketeers.
Christian Thomas picked up a first-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 21.48. Matt Geraghty placed third with a time of 21.91.
Johanns' time of 47.70 led Xavier in the 100 free, taking second. Enrique Hernandez placed third with a time of 48.01.
Mahoney led Xavier into the wall again, this time in the 200 back, with a time of 1:55.16 to take second.
Dyer's time of 2:08.57 in the 200 breast took third place.
Quon led the Musketeers again, in the 500 free, with a third place finish.
Abboud finished third in the 100 fly with a time of 51.59.
Dyer led Xavier with a time of 1:59.12 in the 200 IM, scoring in fourth place.
Xavier closed out the meet with a second place finish in the 400 free relay for Abboud, Johanns, Quon and Thomas.
Xavier's men fell by a score of 222.50-71.50.
