Women's Swimming Travels to Pittsburgh to Take on Duquesne and Ohio

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's swimming continues the spring dual schedule on Saturday, January 19 when the Musketeers travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to face the Duquesne Dukes and the Ohio Bobcats at Towers Pool. Swimming events are set to begin at 2:00 p.m.

THE OPPONENT - DUQUESNE |
- The Dukes competed in a pair of dual matches last weekend, falling to Buffalo on Friday, 219-77 and falling to Akron on Saturday, 247-154.
- Duquesne was also at the CSU Magnus Cup earlier this season, finishing just behind Xavier, which was third with 806 points, in fourth-place, with a score of 744.5.
- Last season's match-up at Duquesne was canceled due to inclement weather.
- Xavier last faced off with Duquesne at Ohio in 2017, in a women's only meet where Xavier totaled 596.1 points to 623.9 for Duquesne.
- Caroline Gaertner posted two of the top individual finishes of the day for Xavier, taking third in the 50 free and second in the 200 back.
- Duquesne's women won the Atlantic 10 Championships last season and competed in the 2018 CSCAA National Invitational, finishing 12th overall.

THE OPPONENT - OHIO |
- Ohio's swimmers were last in action in November, at the OSU Invitational, where the Bobcats seventh place with 605 points.
- The Bobcats will open spring action on Friday Night against MAC rival Toledo.
- With last season's meet at Duquesne canceled, which the Bobcats were to participate in, the Musketeers haven't faced Ohio in a dual meet since 2017. A women's only meet where Xavier totaled 596.1 points to 666.1 for Ohio.
- The Bobcats finished seventh at last season's MAC Championships, finishing with 253 points.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT |
- Xavier was last in action on January 12 at Cincinnati. Xavier opened the meet with a second-place finish for Ali Fort, Lydia Schaeffer, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners in the 200 medley relay.
- Tilly Baldwin led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 10:43.29.
- Emily Saugstad led Xavier with a time of 1:55.96 in the 200 free.
- Ali Fort placed second with a time of 59.54 in the 100 back.
- Lydia Schaeffer set a time of 1:07.62 in the 100 breast to lead the Musketeers with a fourth place finish.
- Taylor Hogan collected the first of three top-three finishes in the 200 fly, finishing third with a time of 2:05.65.
- Emily Conners swept the sprint freestyle events, taking first in the 50 free with a time of 23.44, and first in the 100 free with a time of 52.28.
- Hogan again led the Musketeers in the 200 back, collecting a first-place finish with a time of 2:06.32.
- Schaeffer placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:27.06.
- Katie Kerr's time of 5:12.49 in the 500 free led the Musketeers.
- Hogan collected another win, this time in the 100 fly, with a time of 57.62.
- Alison Herman placed third in the 200 IM to lead Xavier.
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with Conners, Maureen Cummins, Saugstad and Tianna Vozar taking second in the 400 free relay.
- Xavier's women fell by a score of 209.50-84.50.

- Both squads return to the pool on Sunday, January 27 at the Butler Invite, with events beginning at noon at Fishers High School in Fishers, Ind.
