Paul Scruggs Earns BIG EAST Conference Honor

Scruggs has logged 40 minutes in each of teh last two games.

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore guard Paul Scruggs has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in the wins over Georgetown and Butler this past week. Scruggs averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks for the two games.

Scruggs took over the starting point guard position the last two games for the injured Quentin Goodin and played 40 minutes in each game.

Scruggs, who has scored in double figures in five straight games, has reached doubles figures in a team-high 14 games. He now leads XU in scoring at 13.2 ppg.

Two of Scruggs' teammates, juniors Tyrique Jones and Quentin Goodin (twice), have also been named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll this season. Sophomore teammate Naji Marshall was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Dec. 31.

Xavier, 11-7 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, plays on Friday night at Villanova, which is ranked No. 22 in this week's AP Poll.
