
Swimming Hosts Senior Celebration Meet, then Heads to Miami for Final Dual of 2019

CINCINNATI – Xavier men's and women's swimming will host a final home celebration for its 2019 senior class on Friday, Feb. 1, before heading to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami in the final dual meet before the BIG EAST Championships.

MEET NOTES |
- Miami's women are 6-2 in dual meets on the season. while the men are 3-2. The women were last in action last weekend, with Toledo, a 225-75 win for MU. Both squad faced Ball State on Tuesday, Jan. 22, a sweep for the RedHawks.
- Xavier met head-to-head with the RedHawks at the Akron Zips Invitational, where Miami's men finished first of five and the women finished second of six. Xavier finished fifth on both the men's and women's side.
- At last season's meet, Xavier's women fell by a final score of 184-75, while the men fell by a final score of 206-55.
- Miami's women finished fourth at the MAC Championships last season while the men finished third.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT |
- Xavier's women were last in action at the Butler Invite, where the Musketeers collected 12 top-three finishes, including six event wins, to take first out of 10 teams,
- Ali Fort, Lydia Schaeffer, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners led off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.28.
- Emma Kauffeld led Xavier with a second-place finish in the mile with a time of 17:55.81. Becca Titterton touched just behind her, in 17:56.80, to take third.
- Emily Saugstad's fifth place finish in the 200 free led three Musketeers in the top 10. Caroline Gaertner and Katie Kerr placed sixth and seventh.
- Taylor Hogan led the Musketeers in the 100 back with a time of 58.36, placing third. Maureen Cummins touched in seventh and Laura Dicus placed ninth.
- Lydia Schaeffer's fourth place finish in the 100 breast led Xavier, touching the wall in 1:07.23. Alison Herman finished seventh and Delaney Sprague placed 10th.
- Maggie Kauffeld's time of 2:11.74 in the 200 fly led the Musketeers.
- Emily Conners took first in the 50 free with a time of 24.03. Tianna Vozar placed third and Abigail Garner finished eighth.
Conners also led the Musketeers in the 100 free, finishing in 54.34 for a sixth-place finish. Emily Saugstad finished ninth. - Ali Fort's time of 2:10.83 led Xavier in the 200 back, placing fourth. Anne Locker also finished top-10 with a time of 2:13.95.
- Alison Herman led five Musketeers in the top-10 of the 200 breast, finishing second with a time of 2:27.41. Delaney Sprague, Becca Titterton, Kelly Harris and Lydia Schaeffer placed fourth through seventh, respectively.
- Katie Kerr took the top spot in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:12.88. Abigail Garner finished fifth and Maggie Kauffeldplaced eighth.
- Caroline Gaertner's first place finish in the 100 fly led four Musketeers in the top-10. Taylor Hogan finished fourth, Annie Cummins placed sixth and Lorelei Gaertner touched in ninth-place.
- Alison Herman won the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.03. Taylor Hogan touched just behind her, in 2:11.01, to take second. Delaney Sprague finished sixth.
- Emily Conners, Caroline Gaertner, Maureen Cummins and Tianna Vozar finished first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:30.92.
- Xavier finished with a score of 625, more than 50 points ahead of second-place IUPUI's score of 571.

- Xavier's men were last in action at the Butler Invite, where the Musketeers collected seven top-three finishes, with one event win, to finish first among eight teams.
- Alex Sironen, Matthew Dyer, Brandon Abboud and Sam Johanns led off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, with a time of 1:33.44.
- Nick Mahoney led the Musketeers in the mile, taking second with a time of 16:25.37. Cothalee Watko finished fifth, and Patrick Hackett finished seventh.
- Ben Quon finished sixth in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.20. Jared Ritz placed eighth.
- Christian Thomas' time of 52.89 led Xavier in the 100 back, and was good for fifth place. Landon Clark touched just behind him in sixth place and Chase Baldwin finished ninth.
- Cameron Weese led the Musketeers in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.61.
- Brandon Abboud's time of 1:55.36 led Xavier in the 200 fly.
- Alex Sironen led three Musketeers in the top seven of the 50 free. Sironen placed third with a time of 21.59. Sam Johannsplaced sixth and Enrique Hernandez finished seventh.
- Sam Johanns' time of 47.41 in the 100 free led Xavier, and was good for third place. Enrique Hernandez finished fourth, Matthew Geraghty finished in a tie for fifth and Christian Thomas finished eighth.
- Alex Sironen's second place finish in the 200 back (1:53.65) led four Musketeers in the top 10. Ben Quon placed fourth, Chase Baldwin finished sixth, and Nathan Runyon finished eighth.
- Matthew Dyer placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.29. Cameron Weese finished sixth.
- Nick Mahoney's time of 4:53.54 in the 500 free led Xavier with a 10th place finish. Daniel Stroh and Jared Ritz finished 11th and 12th, respectively.
- Brandon Abboud led Xavier in the 100 fly, finishing fourth with a time of 51.10. Landon Clark tied for 10th.
- Matthew Dyer's fifth place finish (1:57.75) in the 200 IM led five Musketeers in the top-10. Cothalee Watko, Chase Baldwin, Cameron Weese and Nathan Runyon finished seventh through 10th, respectively.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay for Brandon Abboud, Sam Johanns, Ben Quon and Christian Thomas with a time of 3:07.11.
- Xavier finished with 547 points. IUPUI finished second with 529 points.
