A'riana Gray led the Musketeers with 16 points to go along with six rebounds
CINCINNATIΒ - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 76-57 BIG EAST contest with St. John's on Friday night at Cintas Center. The Musketeers moved to 9-5 (0-3 BIG EAST), while the Red Storm improved to 8-5 (1-1 BIG EAST).

β’ St. John's jumped out to an early 11-5 advantage and led by six three times in the opening quarter. Trailing 15-9 with 4:01 on the clock, the Musketeers scored six unanswered capped by an Aaliyah Dunham three pointer to tie the game at 15-15. The Red Storm led the Musketeers, 19-18, after one quarter of action.Β
β’ St. John's opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run to force a Xavier timeout. The Red Storm led by as many as 11 points (31-20) at the 5:50 mark before the Musketeers closed the half on a 10-4 run to get within five.Β
β’ A'riana Gray led Xavier with 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting at the break, while Na'Teshia Owens added eight on 3-for-6 shooting. Tierra Floyd paced the team on the glass with five rebounds in eight minutes of action off the bench.
β’ St. John's held a 26-18 advantage on the glass at intermission. Xavier was also 6-for-13 from behind the arc and only committed four turnovers.Β

β’ Sophomore A'riana Gray scored a team-high 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting. The forward added six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. She has now scored in double figures 11 times this season.
β’ Junior Na'Teshia Owens scored 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting with three 3-pointers. The guard added four rebounds and an assist.
β’ Sophomore Aaliyah Dunham chipped in nine points and a team-high four assists, while freshman Carrie Gross added seven points. Junior Tierra Floyd pulled down a team-high seven rebounds in 14 minutes of action off the bench.
β’ Xavier went 9-for-21 from behind the arc and 8-for-10 from the foul line. St. John's posted a 47-31 advantage on the glass and a 46-18 advantage in points in the paint.
