Xavier Track and Field Announces 2019-20 Schedule

The indoor season begins on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Mastodon Opener
CINCINNATI - Xavier track and field announced its schedule for the upcoming indoor and outdoor seasons. The Musketeers open the 2019-20 campaign at the Mastodon Opener on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
• Xavier opens the indoor season at the Mastodon Opener for the fifth consecutive season. The Musketeers had 14 top-10 finishes at the meet last season.
• The Mastodon Opener is the team's lone meet in 2019 before opening the new year at the Jim Green Invitational on Jan. 10-11 in Lexington, Ky. All told, Xavier will compete in six indoor meets before the BIG EAST Championships.
• The BIG EAST Championships are slated for March 1-2 in Geneva, Ohio. The two-day meet is being held at the SPIRE Institute for the second time in as many years. The 2016 and 2018 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships were also held at the SPIRE Institute.
• The Musketeers open the outdoor season at the Blizzard Buster on Saturday, March 20. The meet is being hosted by Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ohio.
• Xavier will compete in eight meets during the outdoor season, highlighted by the Raleigh Relays (March 27-28) and the Penn Relays (April 23-25).
• The BIG EAST Championships are slated for May 8-9 at Villanova Stadium on the campus of Villanova University.
• The Xavier women posted eight top-10 times at the BIG EAST Championships last year, paced by Anna Kostarellis who placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run (17:19.11). She also placed seventh in the 3,000-meter run (9:38.02).
• Anna Kostarellis also set the school record in the 3,000-meter run (9:33.43) at the Music City Challenge.
• The 4x800 relay team (Blackwell, Fioresi, Ramsey, Russell) also established a new school record in the event, posting a time of 9:09.03 at the BIG EAST Championships.
• On the men's side, the Musketeers had five top-10 finishes at the BIG EAST Championships. Two different relay teams set school records at the meet. The 4x400 (English, Hatchett, Henning, Roberts) finished fourth in a time of 3:17.48 and the 4x800 (Dietrich, Lough, Meehan, Stapleton) placed fourth in a time of 7:38.14.
• The women's team posted 12 top-10 finishes at the BIG EAST Championships, paced by Kara Robinson who earned a silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles. The senior finished off her standout career with school record in the event (1:00.69).
• The Xavier women set three other school records during the regular season. Individually, Anna Kostarellis posted a time of 10:31.30 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Beach Invitational and Claire Hathaway set the school record in the triple jump (11.26m) at the Pacesetter Invitational. The relay team of Anna Kostarellis, Courtney Klatt, Hannah Russell and Maya Hannagan posted a time of 18:56.29 in the 4x1500-meter relay at the Raleigh Relays.
• The Xavier men posted five top-10 finishes at the BIG EAST Championships last season, highlighted by William Roberts taking silver in the 400-meter hurdles. He re-established his school record with a time of 52.91.
• The 4x400 relay team (Roberts, English, Milligan, Henning) set a school record at the conference championships in a time of 3:17.44.
• The Xavier men posted two other school records during the regular season. Individually, Thomas Gardiner posted a time of 3:51.74 in the 1,500-meter run at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. The 4x1500-meter relay team (Harless, Dietrich, Menyes, Meehan) posted a time of 16:16.69 at the Raleigh Relays.
