Naji Marshall Earns BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University sophomore forward Naji Marshall has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week. Marshall averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in wins at Seton Hall and vs. No. 17 Villanova this past week.

Marshall had a game-high and career-high 28 points in the win at Seton Hall on Feb. 20 and had a team-high and game-high tying 17 points in the win over Villanova on Feb. 24.

This marks the second straight week that Marshall has earned a BIG EAST weekly honor and the third time since the BIG EAST season started at the end of December. Marshall earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his efforts in Xavier wins over Creighton on Feb. 13 and at Providence on Feb. 16. The Atlantic City, N.J., native was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Dec. 31 for his work in the road win in XU's BIG EAST opener at DePaul on Dec. 29.

Marshall, who has averaged a team-high 20.5 ppg. during Xavier's current four-game winning streak, leads the team and is ranked 13^th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 14.4 ppg. He is second on the team rebounding (ninth in the BIG EAST at 6.7 rpg.) and assists (10^th in the BIG EAST at 3.5 apg.).

Xavier, 15-13 overall and 7-8 in the BIG EAST Conference, visits St. John's on Thursday night.
