Allbry Major Named BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week

NEW YORK - After collecting six hits in the weekend series against Georgetown, including a walk-off double in the series finale, Allbry Major was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Conor Grammes was also honored, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Major earned Player of the Week after batting .462 in Xavier's series sweep of Georgetown over the weekend. The sophomore went 6-of-13 at the plate with two walks for an on-base percentage of .533. Major had a pair of doubles in the series against Georgetown, including the walk-off double in the series finale that brought Conor Grammes home for the game-winning run.
Grammes earned a Weekly Honor Roll nod after setting a career-high for strike outs in the series finale against Georgetown. Grammes collected 16 strikeouts in seven innings of the 1-0 win for the Musketeers. Grammes' 16 strikeouts is tied for second most strikeouts in a single game this season in the NCAA DI, and ties for most in a single game in the BIG EAST this season. Grammes was one strikeout shy of tying Xavier's record of 17 strikeouts in a game.
Xavier returns to action tomorrow when the Musketeers face Cincinnati in the first game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic at UC. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
