CINCINNATI - Xavier Athletics announced the Victory Parkway 3 On 3 Classic, a youth basketball event to be played July 27-28 at the Cintas Center on the Xavier University campus. The event is the only Cincinnati-based youth basketball 3-on-3 tournament and is open to both boys and girls entering grades three through seven.
Â
More than 1,000 kids are expected to compete in front of countless friends, family and spectators over the two-day tournament weekend. Food, music, beverages and a family-friendly fan zone will provide entertainment before, between and after games.
Â
Skyline Chili, Home City Ice, Norton Outdoor and iHeart Radio have already partnered with the event in its first year. More partners are expected and will be announced throughout the summer.
Â
"Our city and region is one of the top markets in the country for collegiate basketball, and youth basketball is very popular in Cincinnati," said Associate Athletic Director for External Relations Brian Hicks. "We thought that the city should have an annual event that is organized and based here to display this great talent each summer."
Â
The event will feature 10 different divisions based on gender and age. Each team is allowed a maximum of four players, with three on the court and one sub if desired. A total of 256 teams will compete in the Classic across 18 different half-court setups inside and around Cintas Center.
Â
Age and gender divisions will play a "group" format with each team being guaranteed at least three games and then top teams from each group moving on to the second day -- Championship Sunday -- highlighted by a single elimination knockout bracket. The top teams receive awards, but all players will go home with a number of gifts from the event.
