Kostarellis Wins Individual Title, Leads Xavier Women to Queen City Invitational Crown

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Junior Anna Kostarellis won the individual title at the Queen City Invitational on Saturday morning, leading the Musketeers to their third Queen City Title in program history. The Xavier men placed fifth in the final team standings.
The season-opening meet was hosted by Northern Kentucky at the Valhalla Cross Country Course. Both the men and women ran 5K races on Saturday morning.
• The women's team won its third Queen City Invitational Title in program history. Xavier also won the team title in 2013 and 2015.
• Junior Anna Kostarellis established a new school record in the 5K, posting a time of 17:07.80. The previous record was held by Maddie Britton who posted a time of 17:25.90 at the 2017 Queen City Invitational.
• Junior Anna Kostarellis nearly won Saturday's race by 40 seconds. Wright State's Shelby Nolan finished second in a time of 17:42.90, respectively. The win was also the first individual title of her cross country career.
