Men's Golf Ends Day One at Bearcat Invitational as Pirro Cards Even-Par First Round

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's golf concluded the first day of the UC Bearcat Invitational with a total of 596 (+28).

Ben Pirro, a transfer from Presbyterian College, led the Musketeers on the first day with a 4-over 36-hole score. Pirro recorded an even-par first 18 holes, which marks his first round at par-or-better for the season. He is currently tied for sixth in par-3 scoring at 2.88 (-1) and carded 20 pars with six birdies in the first 36 holes of play.

Freshman Brian Jennings made his debut today for Xavier. He carded a 75-74 and sits tied for 56th overall. Jennings leads XU in total pars with 23 through the tournament so far.

Nick Frey ended the first day one stroke behind Jennings, with a total of 150 over the first 36 holes. Frey shot even-par on par-5s and added 19 pars with five birdies to his day-one effort.

Trey Rath shot 76-77 over the first two rounds at Coldstream Country Club. Rath is 67th following the first day of action.

Imaad Qureshi is tied for 73rd after day one at the UC Bearcat Invitational.

Xavier posted a total of 293 (+9) over the first 18 holes of the tournament and a 303 (+19) in the second to end the first day with a 596 (+28).

Louisville leads the tournament with a 22-under first day total at 546.
