BIG EAST Conference Honors Tyrique Jones For The Third Time In February

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University senior forward Tyrique Jones has earned BIG EAST Conference weekly honors for the third time in February after averaging 16.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in XU's games at St. John's on Feb. 17 and vs. Villanova on Feb. 22. Jones is on this week's BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Jones, who leads the BIG EAST and is third in the nation in double-doubles with 19, has recorded a double-double in nine straight games, one shy of the XU record of 10 shared by Tyrone Hill (1989-90) and 2003 National Player of the Year David West (2002-03).
Jones leads the BIG EAST and is eighth in the nation in rebounding at 11.4 rpg. Jones also leads the BIG EAST in offensive rebounding at 4.4 rpg., which ranks third in the nation. West is the only XU player to average 11+ rpg. for an entire season over the last 30 years.
Jones, who is averaging 13.9 ppg. to go with his 11.4 rpg., is on pace to be the first XU player to average a double-double for a season since West did it as senior in the 2002-03 season.
Xavier, 17-10 overall and 6-8 in the BIG EAST, hosts DePaul on Tuesday night.
