Andrew Martin Sets School Record on Day Two of BIG EAST Championship

EAST MEADOWS, NY – Andrew Martin set a new school record this afternoon in the 500 free, as the Musketeers wrapped up day two of the BIG EAST Championship. Both the men and women took a first place finish in the 200 free relay.

The women finished the day in third place, with a total of 201 points behind Villanova and Georgetown. Xavier women claimed their first victory in the 200 free relay, the first time the Musketeers won this competition since the new configuration of the BIG EAST and became the only team to beat Villanova in this event in the new BIG EAST.

On the men's side, Andrew Martin set a new Xavier record in the 500 free, first coming in the prelims. Martin then upped his time in the finals finishing at 4:25.64. As a team, the Musketeers completed day two tying for first place with Villanova at 246 combined points. Today's events and final scores included a 3-meter diving portion which Xavier did not participate in.
