Tyrique Jones Named BIG EAST Conference Player Of The Week

ESPN's Jay Bilas named Jones as "The Bilastrator's National Player of the Week"
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University senior forward Tyrique Jones has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week after averaging 16.0 points, 16.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 blocks and shooting 77.8 percent (14-18) from the field in games vs. Marquette and at Seton Hall this past week. He had 19 points and 18 rebounds in Saturday's win at No. 10 Seton Hall. In addition, ESPN's Jay Bilas also named him "The Bilastrator's National Player of the Week."
Jones is second in the BIG EAST in overall rebounding (10.5 rpg.) but leads the league for BIG EAST play at 11.2 rpg. Jones is first in the BIG EAST and third in the nation in offensive rebounding (4.2 rpg.). Jones, who is second on the team and 15th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 13.5 ppg., is second in the BIG EAST and fifth in the nation in double-doubles (13).
Jones is bidding to become the first Xavier player to average a double-double for the season since 2003 National Player of the Year David West did it as a senior in the 2002-03 season.
Xavier, 14-8 overall and 3-6 in the BIG EAST, visits DePaul on Tuesday night.
