Naji Marshall Buzzer Beater Lifts Xavier Over Georgetown

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Georgetown tied the game with a minute left in the game, Naji Marshall drained a three to put Xavier up three with four seconds to life Xavier over Georgetown, 66-63 on Sunday afternoon. Naji Marshall had his third double-double of the season while Tyrique Jones tallied his 20th double-double of the season. Naji Marshall led all scorers with 20 points, while grabbing 10 rebounds. Tyrique Jones added 18 boards, with 16 of his points coming in the second half.
Xavier improves to 8-8 in BIG EAST play and 19-10 overall.

FIRST HALF |
- Jason Carter gave the Musketeer's their first basket and lead of the game, with a deep three pointer from the left wing, assist to Paul Scruggs, 3-2 at 17:52.
- Georgetown's Jahvon Blair erased a three-minute scoring drought with a deep three. On the following possession, Zach Freemantle equalized the score at 5, heading into the first media timeout.
- Out of the media, KyKy Tandy added to Xavier's 10-0 run with back-to-back three pointers off the bench, forcing a Georgetown timeout, 13-5 at 12:36.
- Paul Scruggs connected for a three point from the top of the key and on the next possession, Jason Carter connected for a fast break layup to give Xavier a quick five points, 23-13 at 9:50.
- Georgetown brought it within a one possession game, going on a 7-0 run over 3:13 minutes, leaving Xavier scoreless for over five minutes. Naji Marshall erased the scoring drought with a deep three in transition to put Xavier up six, 26-20 with 3:57 remaining in the half.
- Xavier held Georgetown 0-7 on shooting from the field for the final 3:22 minutes of the half, heading into the locker room up 28-22.
- KyKy Tandy led all scorers at the break, with seven points, accounting for all of Xavier's bench points in the half. The freshman shot 2-4 from beyond the arc while adding two assists.
- Tyrique Jones led all rebounders with six boards.

- Georgetown opened the first half with a quick five points, to bring the Hoyas' deficit within one. Jason Carter connected for a bucket of the glass to give Xavier a 30-27 advantage.
- Naji Marshall found Paul Scruggs for his second three pointer of the day, to add to Xavier's 7-0 run to open the half, 35-27 at the first media of the half.
- Tyrique Jones added four points for the Musketeers out of the second media, giving Xavier a 39-34 lead with 11:15 left to play.
- Naji Marshall gave Xavier its largest lead of the half on a pass from Quentin Goodin, 46-37 at 9:36.
- Another six points from Tyrique Jones included an alley-oop from Paul Scruggs, to put Xavier up 52-44 with 7:09 left in regulation. The Hoyas responded with a quick bucket and a three pointer off a Musketeer turnover to bring the game within one possession and forcing a Xavier timeout.
- Four more points for Tyrique Jones, scoring Xavier's last 10 points, gives Xavier a five-point advantage into the final media of the half, 58-53.
- Georgetown tied the game with a three pointer off a Xavier turnover at 61 with 1:10 left in the game. On the next possession, Naii Marshall knocked down two free throws but Georgetown tied it again, with a layup under the basket 63-63 with 17 seconds remaining.
- Naji Marshall took the ball the length of court to connect for a three pointer, giving Xavier the lead with four seconds remaining, forcing Georgetown to use their final timeout.
- Xavier held on, securing the victory 66-63.
