Xavier fell in overtime on Friday to No. 7 seed Villanova, 64-56

CHICAGO - A'riana Gray and Ayanna Townsend both posted double-doubles on Friday afternoon as the Musketeers season came to close with a 64-56 overtime loss to No. 7 seed Villanova at the BIG EAST Tournament. Xavier moved to 3-27, while Villanova improved to 18-12.

NOTABLES

• Neither team led by more than four points until the overtime period as the game featured nine ties and two lead changes. Villanova opened the overtime period on a 7-0 run before pulling away for the 64-56 victory.

• The end of regulation concluded in dramatic fashion. Trailing by three points (49-46), Aaliyah Dunham sank the Musketeers first three pointer of the game as time expired - sending the game into overtime.

• A'riana Gray posted her 26th career double-double, scoring a team-high 17 points and grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds. She added two steals and one block.

• Ayanna Townsend posted her second career double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. She added one steal and assist.

• Aaliyah Dunham finished with 11 points, four assists, four rebounds and three steals. Morgan Sharps added nine points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.

• Xavier posted 10 steals in the contest, the team's seventh game of the season with 10 or more steals.

• Xavier won the battle on the glass, 52-50. The Wildcats scored two more points off of turnovers (12-10) and held a 15-9 advantage in second-chance points.
