Jack Lynch Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

Garrett Schultz named to Weekly Honor Roll
NEW YORK - Following a week where he pitched 7.1 scoreless innings, freshman Jack Lynch was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. Garrett Schultz also earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after leading the Musketeers at the plate last week.
The lefty posted an ERA of 0.00 in 7.1 innings of work in relief last week, including pitching 5.0 scoreless innings of relief in Xavier's 2-1 win over No. 17 Long Beach State. Lynch allowed just four hits total last week and struck out seven while allowing only two walks, finishing the game against the Dirtbags with no free passes.
This is the first BIG EAST Weekly Honor of Lynch's career and the Musketeers' second of the season.
Freshman Garrett Schultz also earned honors from the conference, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Schultz led the Musketeers with a .444 batting average during a 2-2 week, with an .889 slugging percentage after collecting two doubles and two home runs among hits eight hits last week.
Schultz's second home run, in the 11th inning in the Sunday finale at No. 17 Long Beach State, helping the Musketeers to the 2-1 win over the Dirtbags, with both runs batted in from the game credited to Schultz. His eight RBI led the Musketeers last week and his five runs scored matched for team-high.
