CINCINNATI - Xavier head women's basketball coach Melanie Moore has announced the hiring of Molly Bateman as assistant athletic director for women's basketball. Bateman previously spent five seasons at Detroit Mercy.

"Molly is a rising star in our profession and will have an immediate impact on all aspects of our program.Β She is well organized, a tireless worker and relates extremely well to our student-athletes. We are thrilled to bring Molly back to her home state of Ohio."

Bateman served as an assistant coach for the Titans from 2015-18 before adding the title of recruiting coordinator for her last two seasons on the bench. She assisted in coaching five players to all-conference honors and helped the program establish two single-season school records. Bateman also helped the team advance to the Horizon League Championships game in 2017 before falling to nationally ranked Green Bay.

Bateman also has previous coaching stops at Mount Union (2013-15) and Averett University (2011-13).

The New Weston, Ohio, native played at Defiance College from 2007-11, earning all-conference honors as a senior. She also earned the Defiance College Female Sportsmanship Award in 2011.

Bateman holds a bachelor's degree in social work from Defiance College (2011) and a master's in business administration from Averett University (2013).
