Colby Jones Selected As The BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week

Jones hit the game-winning 3-pointer vs. Providence.

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University freshman guard Colby Jones was named BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week after averaging 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals for Xavier wins this past week over St. John's and Providence. Jones hit the game-winning 3-pointer vs. Providence yesterday with 0.1 seconds left.

Jones, who shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from the field for the week, scored a career-high and Xavier game-high 16 points in the St. John's win on Jan. 6.

Jones, who has started each of the last five games, is averaging 23.6 minutes per game.

Xavier, 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, plays next at Seton Hall on Saturday. Five of Xavier's next six scheduled games are on the road.
