Xavier posted a season-high 15 blocks on Saturday afternoon

CINCINNATI - Xavier volleyball posted a season-high 15 blocks in Saturday's four-set loss (32-30, 18-25, 20-25, 16-25) to Villanova.

The two teams split the season series with the road team winning each match. The Musketeers dropped to 10-9 (5-3 BIG EAST), while the Wildcats improved to 12-8 (4-4 BIG EAST).

NOTABLES

• The opening set was back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than three points in the frame. The first set featured 18 ties and 10 lead changes.

• Xavier posted a season-high 15 blocks, the team's sixth match of the year with 10 or more blocks. The 15 blocks are the most in a match by Xavier since Feb. 6, 2021 (16 blocks at Cincinnati).

• Moriah Hopkins led Xavier with 14 kills, her sixth match of the year with 10 or more kills. The right-side hitter added a .433 hitting percentage and three blocks.

• Norah Painter added six kills, three blocks and two digs.

• Carrigan O'Reilly posted a team-high 23 assists to go along with 13 digs, four blocks and four kills.

• Delaney Hogan chipped in four blocks and four kills, while Emma Grace added four kills.

• Ellie Chaffee posted a team-high five blocks, while Jayda Carlton added three.

• Alyssa Overbeck led had a team-high 23 digs. Stevie Wolfe added eight digs.

• Xavier held a 15-5 advantage in total team blocks. The Wildcats had five more aces (12-7) than the Musketeers.
