Xavier Downs Georgetown in Five Set Battle

Musketeers go back and forth with Hoyas, but come out on top
WASHINGTON D.C.  - In their second match of the weekend, Xavier traded points with Georgetown until pulling away in the fourth and never looked back. The Musketeers ultimately came away with the 25-20, 22-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-10 win.
Xavier is now 3-1 in the BIG EAST and 8-6 overall, while the Hoyas drop to 0-4 in conference play.Â

• Delaney Hogan was today's kill leader with 13 finishes. Defensively, she had five blocks (1 solo) for 16 points.
• Kelly Franxman matched her strong showing yesterday with another 12 kills and added 16 digs to secure the double-double. From the service line, she totaled a Xavier season-high four aces.
• Ellie Chaffee was Xavier's third double-digit scorer, posting 10 kills and a team-high .368 hit percentage. She was just behing Hogan with four blocks (one solo) as the middles helped the Musketeers to 10 team blocks.
• Setter Carrigan O'Reilly had a season-best 46 assists. She also had eight kills of her own at a team-high .368 hit percentage, three blocks and six digs.
• Three Musketeers had double-digit digs. along with Franxman's 16 digs, Stevie Wolf had 10, while Alyssa Overbeck led the team with 17.

• Xavier comes back home for four of their next five matches, starting with Seton Hall and St. John's on October 8-9.
