
Women's Soccer Picks Up 2-0 Win at Creighton

Jakovich, Sallee each score to move Xavier to 10-1-1 on the season and 3-1-0 in BIG EAST play
OMAHA, Neb. - Xavier women's soccer picked up a tenth win for the season, moving past Creighton with a 2-0 win on the road on Sunday afternoon. Xavier moves to 10-1-1 on the season and 3-1 in BIG EAST play.
Xavier took the 1-0 lead in the first five minutes on a goal from Hayley Jakovich, her first of the season, to take the one-goal lead into the break after holding a 12-1 advantage on shots in the first half.
Creighton created a number of opportunities after the break, creating seven corner kicks in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net to find the equalizer. Shelby Sallee then added an insurance goal after she deflected a kick from the CU goalkeeper into the net in the 68th minute to put Xavier ahead, 2-0.
Xavier's defense, with Olivia Jenkins playing in frame and Grace Brauer and Hayley Jakovich playing on the backline for the full time, picked up a second-straight clean sheet and sixth shutout for the season. Elise Le also played over 80 minutes as well.
Xavier is back home for the next match, hosting St. John's on Thursday, Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Corcoran Field.

- Jenkins and Xavier's defense picked up a sixth shutout for the season after limiting the Wildcats to just one shot on goal. Grace Brauer and Hayley Jakovich played the full 90 minutes on Xavier's backline to help limit the Bluejays to two shots on-goal.
