No. 25 Xavier Prepares For NIT Season Tip-Off At Barclays Center

CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 4-0 and ranked No. 25 in this week's Associated Press Poll, play in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Wednesday and Friday.

Xavier opens NIT play against 4-0 Iowa State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. XU plays either No. 9 Memphis or No. 27 Virginia Tech on Friday night.

• Xavier, 4-0 and No. 25 in this week's Associated Press Poll, is coming off an 88-48 win over Norfolk State on Sunday to complete a season-opening 4-0 homestand.
• Xavier has four players averaging in double figures in scoring and a fifth at 9.8 ppg. Senior Paul Scruggs leads XU at 15.8 ppg.; also leads XU in assists and steals.
• Xavier senior Paul Scruggs, a unanimous choice on the 2021-22 preseason All-BIG EAST First Team, is now in the top 25 on Xavier's all-time scoring list with 1,309 points. He scored 10 of XU's last 12 points in the Ohio State win.
• Xavier sophomore Colby Jones, one of four Xavier double-figure scorers, is second on the team in scoring (13.0 ppg.) and leads the BIG EAST in rebounding (9.5 rpg.).
• Xavier senior Adam Kunkel, who was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll, averaged 18.0 ppg in two wins this past week. He hit a collegiate career-high eight 3-pointers on his way to a Xavier career-high 26 points vs. Norfolk State.
• Xavier senior Nate Johnson hit four 3-pointers on his way to 20 points vs. Norfolk State. Johnson was one of the nation's top 3-point shooters last season before having his season cut short by a leg injury.
