Baseball Adds 10-Person Class During Fall Signing Period

Class will join Xavier program for 2023 season
CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball head coach Billy O'Conner announced a 10-person signing class for the Fall of 2021. The new class will join the Musketeers' program in Fall of 2022 for the 2023 season.

Donavan Canterberry is a shortstop from Wyandotte, Michigan where he attends Theodore Roosevelt High School.
Â
Canterberry plays for coach Brian Cotner at Theodore Roosevelt, and has been part of the varsity team each of his four years of high school. Following his two complete seasons (2019 and 2021) Canterberry earned All-Area honors and he was named All-Downriver League as a junior (2021). Canterberry has also played four years of varsity football.

Canterberry plans to major in Sport Management at Xavier. He is the son of Greg and Jennifer Canterberry.

Hayden Christiansen is a catcher from Spring Grove, Ill., who attends Richmond Burton Community High School.

Christiansen plays for coach Mike Giese at Richmond Burton, and has been a member of the varsity squad for all four years. He has a .505 batting average and has collected 11 home runs. During his high school career, he has earned IHSA First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference honors and was named the Northwest Player of the Year.

Christiansen plans to major in Finance at Xavier. He is the son of Thad and Kathryn Christiansen. Kathryn was a diver at Loras College. He has one sibling, Kelsey.

Dom Jackson is an outfielder/first baseman from Gulf Breeze, Florida, where he attends Gulf Breeze High School.

Jackson plays for coach Travis Mattair at Gulf Breeze where he's spent two years so far on the varsity team. In 2021, he led the team in batting average (.408), total hits (29) and runs scored (26) with 11 extra base hits. Jackson has also played two years of varsity basketball.

Jackson is the son of TJ and Amber Jackson. TJ played baseball at the University of Illinois and Amber played softball at Ball State. He has one sibling, Roman.

Joe Karpierz is a middle infielder from Latham, New York, where he attends Shaker High School.

Karpierz plays for coach Joe Rispole at Shaker, competing in the Suburban Council league. In 2021 he batted .349, collecting 22 hits and 20 RBI and scoring 24 runs. Following the season, he was named Second Team All-Suburban Council.
Â
Karpierz plans to major in Accounting at Xavier. He is the son of Kris and Renee Karpierz and has an older sister, Abigail.

Nick Kolze is a first baseman/outfielder as well as a pitcher from Romeoville, Illinois, where he attends Romeoville High School.

Kolze plays for Coach Michael Skroch at Romeoville where he's spent three years on the varsity team. In 2021, Kolze batted .352 with 38 RBIs and 18 extra base hits. On the mound, Kolze pitched 39.2 innings in 2021, collecting 48 strikeouts with a 4-1 record. He earned a spot on the Illinois Southwest Prairie All-Conference Team following the season.

Kolze plans to major in Sport Marketing/Management at Xavier. He is the son of Michael and June Kolze, and has two younger siblings, Julia and Harrison.

Connor Misch is a first baseman and a left-handed pitcher from Dyer, Ind., where he attends Lake Central High School

Misch plays for coach Mike Swartz at Lake Central and has been a part of the varsity program for two years, helping the team to a 22-8 record in 2021. Prior to his time at Lake Central, Misch played on the varsity team at Andrean High School in 2019, where he was a part of the 2019 IHSAA State Championship on a team with 36-1 record.

Misch is planning on majoring in Finance at Xavier. He is the son of John and Nicole Misch and has one sibling, Justine.

Luis Pimentel-Guerrero is an outfielder from Burlington, Ontario, where he currently attends Corpus Christi Secondary School.
Â
Pimentel-Guerrero has played club baseball for Fieldhouse Pirates for five years. He's the fifth-rated member of the 2022 class in Ontario, and was the second-ranked junior outfielder in Ontario last season. Pimentel-Guerrero played for Team Canada in the2019 Future Games.

Pimentel-Guerrero plans to major in sport management at Xavier. He is the son of Luis Jose Pimentel Guerrero l and Vianny Guerrero de Pimentel and has one younger sibling, Charlize.

Jakob Poturnak is an infielder from Manila, Philippines where he attended the International School of Manila.

Portunak played for the North Shore Twins of PBL Canada in British Columbia, playing shortstop, second base and third. He earned a spot on the Canadian Junior National Team and has earned IASAS All-Tournament honors.

Porturnak plans to study Business at Xavier. He is the son of Brian and Rina Marie Porurnak, and has four sisters, Erika, Mikaela, Anika and Minka.

Brock Rose is a pitcher from Brookeville, Maryland, where he attends Georgetown Prep.
Â
Rose plays for coach Chris Rodriguez at Georgetown Prep, and has been a four-year member of the varsity program. Rose has been part of two championship seasons, in 2019 and 2021, and earned a spot on the All IAC First Team.

Rose is the son of Wendy and Jeff Rose. Wendy ran collegiate track and Jeff played college baseball, both at West Virginia Wesleyan. He has two younger siblings, Bethany and Braxton.

Isaac Wachsmann is an outfielder from Centennial, Colorado where he attends Regis Jesuit.

Wachsmann plays for coach Matt Dahr at Regis Jesuit and has been part of the varsity program for two years. Wachsmann has a .450 average at the plate and earned First Team All-Conference and All-State honors after the squad finished 12-5.

Wachsmann plans to study Business at Xavier. He is the son of Shannon and Josef Wachsmann.
